In 1993, when we mailed out the first volume of the MARS HILL Tapes, the idea of subscribing to a periodical that you listened to was a strange novelty. The idea of listening to audio via the Internet was virtually unknown, and the first iPods only arrived in 2001. 1) Mars Hill Audio relied exclusively on audio cassettes for years. That’s why we were originally known as the “Mars Hill Tapes.” 2) Then, in A.D. 2000, our first CD edition of the Journal (Volume 46) was mailed to subscribers. 3) Several years later, we enabled listeners to download mp3 files of our Journal and other products, in an effort to accommodate listeners with mobile audio devices. 4) Finally, in 2018, we launched our first mobile app. From cassettes to CDs to downloads to an app. Four different methods of delivery, but one consistent editorial goal: to promote a better understanding of what Christian faithfulness might look like in our cultural lives, and a clearer recognition of the causes and effects of the un-Christening of Western culture. And soon, a 5th stage of our work will commence. Watch the video linked to the button above for an explanation of how we plan to serve our listeners with an improved system of communicating.
